CBU Welcomes Rotondo!
Cape Breton University adds NCAA Division II transfer into the fold.
Sydney, N.S. – Cape Breton University and CAPERS men's basketball head coach David Petroziello are pleased to announce the commitment of Mars Hill University Lion Indiana Rotondo to the CAPERS for 2017-18.
The 6'1" guard from Vaughan, ON is returning to Canada after a stint in North Carolina. Rotondo was the captain and MVP of his high school St.Elizabeth for four straight years. He was also a York region all-star selection and received awards at the Ball on my Mind and NPH top 20 showcases.
The NCAA Division II transfer chose CBU because of his connection with head coach Petroziello during recruiting. Rotondo said "I chose CBU because I trust and believe in Coach Petroziello's philosophy on what it's going to take to win and be successful as a person and player."
"Rotondo brings a superb work ethic and a foundation of values and character which he lives in both his academic and athletic life," pointed out Petroziello. Petroziello added, "He is an excellent student and I am excited for him to add to his education in the great learning environment we enjoy here at CBU."
When Rotondo was asked how he sees himself helping the CAPERS next season, Rotondo feels he can contribute both on and off the court. "I'll be able to help next season with my scoring, playmaking and defensive ability." said Rotondo. "Also, I know that I'll be a good leader on and off the court and help create a winning culture for the program."
"On the court, his ability to both create and make shots consistently from the perimeter will mean even more potency for our offense." commented Petroziello. "I am most excited to be adding his defensive skills and mindset as well as his willingness to sacrifice and selfless attitude to the program. I could not be happier for Indiana and his family as he takes this next step in his collegiate career."
