(Sydney, NS) - Wednesday, September 20, 2017 - In the spirit of giving back to the community, The Credit Union District Managers Association, which includes branches from New Waterford, Glace Bay, Sydney, Dominion and North Sydney, presented $10,000 to Capers Athletics and $5,000 to the Student Engagement Center at Cape Breton University.
The Credit Union has been a long time supporter of Capers Athletics and is a new fundraising partner for the Student Engagement Center. The Credit Unions were the title sponsor of the recent 10-Year Anniversary of the Women's National Soccer Championship weekend. The weekend featured lots of events and the return of many former soccer alumni. The Credit Unions will also be the title sponsor for the annual Credit Unions Academic All-Canadian Luncheon to be held later in November.
Funding for the Student Engagement Center will be used directly to help students adjust to university life. The center provides a space for students to come together and participate in community-led information sessions about everything from financial planning to cope with the stresses of exams.
Athletes and students from Cape Breton University were on hand to accept both cheques from Credit Union District Managers.
