Sydney, N.S. – Cape Breton University and CAPERS women's soccer head coach Ness Timmons are pleased to announce the commitment of goalkeeper Haley Kardas and forward/midfielder Erin Freeman to the CAPERS next season.

Freeman, a 5'3 forward/midfielder was team MVP and the Halifax West High School Athlete of the year.
Kardas chose Cape Breton University because of the women's soccer program's reputation and the university's tight-knit community. "One visit was enough, everyone around the program was like one big family and I wanted to be a part of that. CBU has an amazing soccer program which will benefit me", said the Halifax native. Freeman also chose CBU after her campus visit. Freeman said "On my visit, I quickly came to see the close friendship the girls had on the team and there was a strong sense of community at the university. I think the small class sizes will be beneficial for my academic goals. Ness and the CBU coaching staff have built a great soccer program, and the quality of the players will help me improve and move forward with my soccer."
"We are very excited to get these high-level student-athletes. Both Haley and Erin are great students, great players, and have terrific attitudes. These are the kind of student-athletes all University's want, and we are very pleased to have them join our CAPERS program", said Coach of the Year Ness Timmons. "Haley is coming from the REX program, so is fundamentally very strong. She has great size and experience in Goal. This summer she is playing with the Dunbrack Senior squad, so she will be ready to go come training camp. Erin is an attacking player who can play striker, attacking mid or wing. She is very clever on the ball. She provides a good mix of quickness and pace and playmaking ability. She also has a nose for the goal. We will look to both of these players to contribute right away", continued Timmons.
When asked how she sees herself helping the CAPERS next season, Kardas, a BA student said "I am a team player, with a strong work ethic and dedication. I know I can bring a good attitude, as well as bringing great energy and a strong work ethic."
