Capers Down UPEI at Sullivan Fieldhouse
(SYDNEY, N.S.)- The Cape Breton University Capers stayed undefeated at Sullivan Fieldhouse this season after defeating the UPEI Panthers on Friday night. With both teams coming off losses to UNB, the Capers knocked off the Panthers 98-85 in AUS men's basketball action.
Meschack Lufile continued his stellar season, scoring 24 points and grabbing 13 rebounds—both of which were game-highs, while Akeem Isaac-Phiillip had a well-rounded game as well, putting up 18 points with six rebounds and six assists.
UPEI's second-ranked offence was led by Brad States, who had 18 points to go along with eight rebounds in the loss. Lorenzo Parker helped out with 14 points, while senior, Ellis Ffrench contributed 12 points and eight assists on Friday night.
Tyler Scott, who is the nation's second leading scorer, also left the game with a lower body injury late in the fourth quarter. Before the injury, Scott scored 18 points and racked up nine rebounds for the Panthers. Scott's status for tomorrow's game is uncertain.
CBU turn will have to turn their focus to tomorrow's rematch.
The two teams play again on Saturday at 3pm at Sullivan Fieldhouse, where Cape Breton will look to even the season series and move to above .500 on the season.
