Sydney, NS – The CAPERS won their 3rd game in a row, as they took care of the visiting Axemen 82-56 in convincing fashion. The CAPERS got off to a fantastic start pressuring Acadia into turnovers during the first quarter and jumped out to a 22-9 first quarter lead. The 2nd quarter was an evenly contested quarter with both teams playing solid defence and both teams putting up 15 points. The CAPERS took a 37-24 lead into the locker room. The CAPERS came out in the 3rd just as they did in the 1st with stifling defence that forced Acadia into a lot of turnovers highlighted by a Eugene Kankue (Ottawa, ON) dunk. CBU outscored the Axemen 26-13 in the third. Even with the game well in hand in the 4th quarter, the CAPERS continued to hustle to the final buzzer. The Axemen were led in scoring by Rowan Power with 9 pts. The leading scorer for the CAPERS was current AUS leading scorer Osman Omar (Mississauga, On) with 26 points.
Turning point – The CAPERS came out of the break and went on an extended run to put the game out of the reach in the 3rd quarter. A pair of steals by Eugene Kankue led to 4 quick points and put the CAPERS up by 20.

The CAPERS next game is the ORANGE OUT game at the Sullivan Fieldhouse on January 26th against Dalhousie. The Axemen will host the Saint Mary's Huskies on Thursday, January 24th.
