CAPERS overcome slow start, defeat the UPEI Panthers 86-82

Sydney, NS - The Cape Breton University CAPERS overcame an early deficit to beat the UPEI Panthers 86-82. CBU found themselves down 15 after the first quarter but fought their way back into the game, led by Alison Keough (Marion Bridge, NS) and Hannah Brown (North Sydney, NS). The Panthers were led offensively by Jenna Mae Ellsworth (Charlottetown, PE), who started out the game on fire, accumulating 14 points in just the first quarter, ending with 21 points.
Turning point - The CAPERS were losing for most of this game, but they captured their first lead when Madison Munro (Truro, NS) got a steal which she converted into a lay-up with 7 minutes left of the game. Munro followed that up later on in the quarter by nailing a long three which gave the CAPERS the lead for good.
Individual Leaders
- Alison Keough led the CAPERS with 24 points, and also had 13 rebounds and 6 assists.
- Ellsworth had a team-high 21 points for the Panthers, including 14 points in the first quarter
- Hannah Brown and Alison Keough both had double-doubles, Keough scoring 24 points while Brown scored 22 points while grabbing 14 rebounds and 5 assists
