Sydney, NS - The Cape Breton University CAPERS used a strong 4th quarter to defeat the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds 87-63 in AUS action Saturday afternoon. Alison Keough (Marion Bridge, NS) and Toni Bianchini (Groves Point, NS) were CBU's top performers, while the Varsity Reds were led by Laura Kaye (Fredericton, NB) who scored a team-high 20 points.
Turning point - The CAPERS held a 2 point lead going into the final quarter, but they stepped up on both sides of the ball to end the game, outscoring UNB 31-9 in the closing frame.
Individual Leaders
- Alison Keough was the top scorer and rebounder in the game, scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds, giving her a double-double.
- Toni Bianchini also had an impressive game, totalling 16 points on 6-9 shooting and 4 assists.
- Laura Kaye had 20 points for the visiting Varsity Reds, and also added 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

The CAPERS will stay home and host the X-women Saturday the 20th at 6 pm in a special Orange Out Game. The first 300 fans will receive a free CAPERS t-shirt.
The Varsity Reds will be on the road next weekend, playing Acadia Friday the 19th, and Dalhousie the 20th, with both games starting at 6 pm.
