The visiting Cape Breton University Capers got their 2nd straight win over the Saint Mary’s.

(HALIFAX, NS)—The visiting Cape Breton University Capers got their 2nd straight win over the Saint Mary's, with a 62-50 victory in Atlantic university sport women's basketball action from the Homburg Centre.
Alison Keough (Marion Bridge, NS) paced all scorers with 17 points and 17 rebounds in the Capers' win as the Cape Breton native added five blocks as well.
SMU led by two, 15-13 after 10 minutes when CBU used a 19-6 second quarter score to take a 32-21 halftime lead.
Cape Breton opened up the second-half with an 18-13 third-quarter score, extending their lead to 16, 50-34 after thirty minutes.
The final frame saw SMU outscore the Capers 16-12 as CBU held on for the 62-50 win.
Fifth-year SMU forward Katrina Murrell (Markham, ON) led SMU with 14 points and added seven rebounds in the loss, as SMU drops to 10-8 in conference play.
Toni Bianchini (Groves Point, NS) added 13 points for CBU while Mackenzee Ryan (Glace Bay, NS) had nine points, as Cape Breton improves to 13-6 on the year.
Jasmine Cain (Halifax, NS) finished with 13 points and four steals for SMU while teammate Kennisha-Shanice Luberisse (Montreal, QC) chipped in eight points and 10 rebounds.
Shanieka Wood (Ajax, ON) added six points in the loss.
Cape Breton wraps up their regular-season with a home date versus the 17-2 U Sports No. 4 Acadia Axewomen February 23rd at 6 p.m. Ths will mark the final regular season game for Alison Keough, Valentina Primossi and Sandra Amoah.
