Novorolsky among nominees for 2016 James Bayer Memorial Scholarship Award

Cape Breton University athletics has nominated Capers women's soccer defender Robyn Novorolsky for the 2016 James Bayers Memorial Scholarship Award.
A 5-foot-6 defender from Richmond Hill, Ont., Novorolsky started in all 13 games for the Capers in the 2015 season. She was named an AUS first team all-star for her strong regular season play. She earned AUS second team all-star nods in 2014 and first team all-star honours in her rookie season with Cape Breton in 2013.
In the 2015 Subway AUS Women's Soccer Championship, Novorolsky anchored the Capers' back line. They allowed no goals against in championship play, en route to capturing the 2015 AUS women's soccer title. The Cape Breton squad topped the Memorial Sea-Hawks 1-0 in the semifinals and downed the Acadia Axewomen 1-0 in the final.
In the classroom, the bachelor of science honours student has achieved CIS academic all-Canadian status in her first two years of study. She on pace to repeat this feat again this year.
She has been the recipient of the Chancellor's Scholarship in each of her three years.
Novorolsky is also actively involved in the community, serving as a volunteer coach with Soccer Cape Breton for players ages 4-6.
She regularly volunteers for charity events put on by Capers Athletics, including the department's annual fundraising auction, Shoot for the Cure, the local Santa Clause Parade and the Youth in Motion program.
"Robyn has been able to combine her success at CBU as a top soccer athlete, an outstanding scholar and a solid contributor in the university and local communities," said Cape Breton University director of athletics John Ryan. "CBU is proud to nominate Robyn for the 2016 James Bayer Memorial Scholarship."
