CAPERS Welcome Madison Lavers!
CBU adds Halifax Grammar defender to the roster.
Sydney, N.S. – Cape Breton University and CAPERS women's soccer head coach Ness Timmons are pleased to announce the commitment of centre back Madison Lavers to the CAPERS next season.
The 5' 10" defender from Halifax, NS was named the 2016 Female Athlete of the Year and Soccer MVP at Halifax Grammar School. Lavers has also been a member of the 3-time gold medal winning Nova Scotia Provincial team and is currently training with the Nova Scotia Canada Games team.
The Halifax County United player chose Cape Breton University for academic and athletic reasons. "I chose CBU in order to combine an excellent education and to play for a high level soccer program", said the IB graduate. Lavers was also the recipient of the Robbins Family and Elliot Spafford Award while at Halifax Grammar.
"Cape Breton University and the women's soccer program is very pleased to have such a well-rounded student athlete choose CBU as her University", commented Timmons. Timmons added, "Madison is a mature defender who can step in and contribute right away."
When asked how she sees herself helping the CAPERS next season, Lavers said "I can add strength, a positive attitude and a strong work ethic to an already strong team." The CAPERS women's soccer program finished first in the AUS regular standings in 2016 and has captured 8 AUS titles and 1 National Championship in the last 14 years.
