Sydney, N.S. – Cape Breton University and CAPERS women's soccer head coach Ness Timmons are pleased to announce the commitment of Antigonish native, Rebecca Lambke to the CAPERS next season.
Lambke is a Dr. J.H. Gillis graduate and Antigonish U21 women's team player. She was named MVP of both her High School and her U21 team in 2017. Lambke, a 5'3 midfielder was also the co-athlete of the year in High School and was a member of the Celtics Cup 2017 championship team.
Lambke chose Cape Breton University after a visit to the campus in the early fall. "When I first went to visit CBU, I felt very welcomed. Coach Timmons, his staff and the girls on the team were all very friendly and made me feel very comfortable while I was there", said the future B.Sc. student. "Once I started talking to the girls, I felt like I was part of the team and was really impressed by the campus tour and kept picturing myself at CBU."
"Rebecca will bring a lot to the program", said Head Coach Timmons. "She is a very clever midfielder who has great vision and her technical ability and passing skills will allow her to contribute right away."
When asked how she sees herself helping the CAPERS next season, the 18-year-old Lambke, said "I plan to work hard and push myself, while staying positive and being dependable on and off the field. I hope to find my role on the field and impact the plays that come my way."
