CAPERS Men's & Women's Soccer Teams heading to Nationals This Week
Draw and bracket announced for 2025 U SPORTS women's soccer championship
U SPORTS announced the seedings and bracket for the 2025 U SPORTS Women's Soccer Championship, to be hosted by McMaster University in Hamilton. The tournament gets underway on Thursday, Nov. 6, and concludes on Sunday, Nov. 9.
The eight participating teams, listed in order of seedings, are as follows:
- #1, UBC Thunderbirds, Canada West champions (14-0-0 regular season, 3-0-0 playoffs)
- #2, Montréal Carabins, RSEQ champions (13-0-1, 2-0-0)
- #3, Toronto Varsity Blues, OUA champions (9-2-1, 3-0-0)
- #4, Cape Breton Capers, AUS champions (7-2-3, 3-0-0)
- #5, Laval Rouge et Or, RSEQ finalists (7-5-2, 1-1-0)
- #6, Trinity Western Spartans, CW finalists (10-3-1, 1-1-1)
- #7, McMaster Marauders, hosts (7-3-2, 1-1-0)
- #8, Guelph Gryphons, OUA finalists (8-1-3, 2-1-0)
In women's soccer, the four conference champions are seeded in positions one through four, based on their conference's top finisher at last year's national championship. The remaining four teams are placed into predetermined spots in the bracket based on their finish in their respective conference playoffs, ensuring that conference finalists end up on opposite sides of the draw. National rankings play no role in teams' placement within the bracket.
The entire tournament will be played at Ron Joyce Stadium on the campus of McMaster University. The four quarterfinals will be played on Thursday as follows: (all times Eastern)
- 11 a.m. #5 Laval vs. #4 Cape Breton
- 1:30 p.m. #8 Guelph vs. #1 UBC
- 5 p.m. #6 Trinity Western vs. #3 Toronto
- 7:30 p.m. #2 Montréal at #7 McMaster
Game Day 2 is set for Friday and will see consolation games at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., with semifinals to follow at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The lone game on Saturday will be the fifth-place game, set for 5 p.m. Sunday will feature the bronze-medal game at 1:30 p.m. and the championship at 5 p.m.
