CAPERS soccer programs take home four U SPORTS awards
Four of our CAPERS soccer players were recognized at the U SPORTS banquet on Wednesday, November 5.
Grace Hannaford was awarded U SPORTS 1st Team All-Canadian after her great performance this season. She scored 6 goals and added 4 assists for a 10-point regular season, which ranks her 4th in Atlantic University Sport (AUS). She added another assist in the AUS championship final game. Grace's performance helped her team win the AUS championships this season, her 3rd title as a CAPER. This first-place finish earned Grace and her team a spot in the U SPORTS National Championship which is being held at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.
Max Piepgrass was awarded U SPORTS 1st Team All-Canadian after a stellar season with the CAPERS, who placed 1st in the conference. Max scored 5 goals and 3 assists while putting 27 shots on net in the regular season. His skills and leadership on the field earned him the AUS men's soccer Most Valuable Player this year. Max and his CAPERS are participating in the U SPORTS National Tournament, hosted by the University of Toronto, as AUS finalists.
Jamie Nicholson was awarded U SPORTS 2nd Team All-Canadian for his great performance during the 2025 soccer season. Jamie scored 6 goals during the regular season and was a definite offensive threat with his speed and agility. Jamie performed well in the AUS championships adding a goal and an assist in the semi-final game.
Yohann Hebert was awarded a spot on the U SPORTS All-Rookie Team. Yohann had a phenomenal rookie season. He scored 2 goals and added 1 assist during the regular season and added an additional assist in the post-season. Yohann's tenacity and speed on the pitch also earned him a spot on the AUS All-Rookie Team.
Both the men's and women's soccer teams are representing Cape Breton University and the AUS in their respective U SPORTS National Tournaments.
The women will play their first game at 12pm AST against Laval and the men will play their first game at 5pm AST against Mount Royal.
