Gutsy victory bumps Cape Breton to No. 1 in U SPORTS Men's Soccer
The Cape Breton Capers (10-0-2) are the new team to beat in Men's Soccer following a battle of the top two AUS teams on Thursday. The Capers scored a gutsy 2-1 victory over the visiting UNB REDS at Ness Timmons Field right before they wrapped up their regular season campaign, carrying their winning streak into Friday's 3-1 defeat over the visiting Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus. The Capers are undefeated this season.
No. 9 StFX X-Men re-enter, while No. 10 Alberta Golden Bears join the ranking following last week's matches. The X-Men tied Moncton 2-2 on Thursday to then claim a 1-0 clean sheet over UNB on Friday, while the Golden Bears landed a 5-0 shutout victory over UNBC in Canada West Quarterfinal action.
Conference championships will be contested this week. Cape Breton University is hosting the AUS Championships!!
