It was a different ball game today when CBU faced off against UNB in AUS women's basketball at the Sullivan Fieldhouse.
The CAPERS came out strong today and had better luck with the ball going in the hoop. The CAPERS were up 19-13 after the first quarter. The CAPERS continued at that pace for the rest of the half and stayed ahead of the Reds by a score of 36-28.
The third quarter continued to be in favour of the CAPERS as they kept a 5 point gap at the end of the third. Then, UNB went on a 10 point run late in the fourth to put them ahead, for the first time in the game, by 4 points. The final 3 minutes of the game saw an intense battle between the two teams with the Reds ahead by 4 when the final whistle blew.
The player of the game for the UNB Reds was Kylee Speedy and the SUBWAYS of CBRM Player of the Game for the CBU CAPERS was Amanda Cruickshank, who netted 31 points for the CAPERS.
The CAPERS will be home again next weekend with games on Friday at 6pm and 8pm and then again on Saturday at 2pm and 4pm against the visiting UPEI Panthers.
