MBB: CAPERS lose to 1st-place Varsity Reds

Sydney, NS - The game was close for a while, but the Cape Breton University CAPERS were unable to keep up to the league-leading UNB Varsity Reds, losing 114-93. Javon Masters (Kitchener, ON) went off for 37 points, while Martin Campbell (Upper Marlboro, MD, USA) countered for CBU with 37 points of his own.
Turning point - The Varsity Reds did most of their damage in the game's first two quarters, outscoring the CAPERS 61-40 in the first half. The CAPERS were able to bring the game to as close as 12 points early in the 4th quarter, but UNB pulled away at the end, giving them their 10th win of the season.
Individual Leaders
- Javon Masters had 37 points on 12-16 shooting, was 11-12 from the free throw line, and he also dished 7 assists.
- Hess Mayele (Laval, QC) was 9-13 from the field, netting himself an efficient 20 points.
- Martin Campbell returned for the CAPERS and put in a team-high 37 points.
