Capers drop SMU 3-0
(HALIFAX, N.S.)—The visiting Cape Breton University Capers defeated the SMU Huskies 3-0 on Friday night in Atlantic University Sport women's soccer action from Huskies Stadium.
Alliyah Rowe scored her fifth goal in five games for Cape Breton, ranked no. 2 by U SPORTS, in the 28thminute with an assist from Amelia Carlini.
In the 45th+ minute, Rachel Leck (Pickering, ON) added an unassisted goal for the Capers as they took a 2-0 lead at the half.
SMU's best chance came in the 1sthalf when Genelle Morash (Chester, NS) hit the crossbar.
Carlini (Ottawa, ON) and Erin Freeman (Halifax, NS) assisted Ciera Disipio's (Ottawa, ON) goal in the 81stminute, sealing the victory for CBU 3-0.
The Capers doubled up SMU 14-7 in shots, with Rowe (Kitchener, ON) and Leck accounting for half of CBU's shots.
Grace Morrison (Halifax, NS) made two saves in the loss for Saint Mary's, who fall to 1-4 in AUS play.
Haley Kardas (Halifax, NS) made four saves in nets for Cape Breton, who improve to 5-0 in conference play.
Up next for both teams is 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon games, as CBU travels to 4-0 Acadia while SMU hosts 1-3 Dalhousie.
