By Corey Leblanc
Lauren Rowe
The first-year forward for the Cape Breton University (CBU) Capers was electrifying in a pair of weekend victories in Atlantic University Sport (AUS) women's soccer action. A constant threat throughout both matches, with her scoring touch and speed, the native of Conception Bay South, Newfoundland and Labrador, scored twice and assisted on another marker.
In a 5-2 win over the visiting UPEI Panthers on Sept. 29, the Bachelor of Science student scored once, while adding a goal and an assist in a 4-2 victory over the Mount Allison Mounties on Sept. 30 at Ness Timmons Field on the CBU campus.
Rowe has three goals and three assists on the season.
Owen Sheppard
The third-year forward for the Cape Breton University (CBU) Capers was a standout offensively in two-weekend victories in Atlantic University Sport (AUS) men's soccer action. His speed helped the dynamic scorer threaten his opponents from start to finish in each match. The native of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador scored three goals on home turf.
In a 5-1 win over the visiting UPEI Panthers on Sept. 29, the Bachelor of Business Administration student scored a natural hat-trick for the Capers, who are ranked third in the USPORTS top-10. In a 2-1 victory over Mount Allison on Sept. 30 at Ness Timmons Field on the CBU campus, Sheppard drew several fouls that led to prime Caper scoring chances.
Sheppard has an AUS-leading seven goals.
