Capers split with Tigers
Jimmy Dorsey came within two rebounds of recording a triple-double in the Cape Breton Capers’ 73-68 win over the Dalhousie Tigers in an AUS men’s basketball game at the Metro Centre on Sunday.
Dorsey scored 18 points and added 10 assists and eight rebounds. The fourth-year guard from Baltimore, MD also had four steals in the victory.
Al Alilovic had 15 points and Meshack Lufile 14 for the Capers.
Robert Nortmann (16 points, 11 rebounds) and Sam Williams (13 points, 12 rebounds) had double-doubles for Dal and Casey Fox (15 points) and Will Yengue (13 points, nine rebounds) also had productive days.
Saturday at Dalplex, the hosts made up 10 points in the fourth quarter to clinch a playoff spot and defeate the Capers 86-82 in overtime.
Defending AUS champion Dalhousie, 8-9, eliminated UNB with the win. Cape Breton is 10-8.
Dorsey had 29, 11 boards and seven assists for the Capers.
Alilovic also had a double-double for the Capers with 21 points and 11 rebounds while Julian Smith chipped in with 13 points in a losing cause.
Dal’s Casey Fox earned player of the game with 20 points.
