February 14, 2014
The Cape Breton University Capers men's basketball team's five-game winning streak came to a screeching halt Friday night as they dropped a 91-63 decision to the Dalhousie Tigers in Sydney.
The loss dropped the Capers to 9-9 overall and kept the defending AUS champions from locking up a playoff berth while keeping the playoff hopes alive for the 5-12 Tigers.
While every member of the Capers roster figured in the scoring only Jamie Glasgow cracked double digits, finishing with 18 points in a losing cause.
Seth Amoah with seven points and Sean McCormick with six points and eight rebounds were other top performers for the home side.
Jarred Reid had a game high 26 points to lead the Tigers offence.
Simon Marr with 17 points, Ritchie Kanza Mata with 16 points and 14 rebounds and Kashrell Lawrence and John Traboulsi with 13 points apiece rounded out the top scorers for Dalhousie. Lawrence added 13 boards for the double-double.
The Capers will wrap up the home portion of their season Saturday when they host the league leading Acadia Axemen in a 4 p.m. start at the Sullivan Fieldhouse.
