Capers come up short against Panthers

A fourth quarter rally came up short Friday night as the Cape Breton University Capers dropped an 89-85 decision to the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers in AUS men's basketball action at the Sullivan Fieldhouse in Sydney.
Aj Geugjes led the Capers offence with 17 points and seven rebounds as the defending AUS champions fell to 3-4 on the season.
Seth Amoah had 13 points, six rebounds and four assists for the CBU while Lee MacQuarrie added 12 points and four boards in a losing cause.
Sean McCormick with 11 points, eight boards and seven assists and Cedric Kasongo with 11 points were other top players for the Capers.
Deontay Smith had a game-high 24 points and seven rebounds for the Panthers, who had six players finish in double figures.
Donathan Moss and Ellis French had 17 points apiece for UPEI, while Joe Kendrick finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Aaron Robbins had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Geoff Doane rounded out the big scorers in the winning offence with 10 points.
