MBB: Callaghan & Locke lead CAPERS to 1st win
The CAPERS defeated the UNB Reds 95-82 for their first victory of the season at the Sullivan Fieldhouse on Friday night.

Sydney, NS – The CAPERS defeated the UNB Reds 95-82 for their first victory of the season at the Sullivan Fieldhouse on Friday night. The CAPERS got off to a fast start, jumping out to a 28-16 first quarter lead. The CAPERS used a balanced attack in the 2ndquarter to build their lead to 15, entering the break with a 46-31 advantage. In the 3rdquarter both teams traded buckets throughout. with UNB taking the quarter 25-24 but trailing by 14 entering the final stanza. The 4thwas more of the same as the teams went back and forth with no real runs by either team. The CAPERS were led by Shacier Locke with 22 points and 9 rebounds that included 3 thunderous dunks. Sydney Academy grad Jason Callaghan had an excellent game with 15 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds. Overall the CAPERS had 5 players in double digits. The Reds received string games from Ibrahima Doumbouya with 21 points and Will Legere with 17.
Turning point – The CAPERS used a solid 1stquarter to build a 12 point lead that they were able to defend the rest of the game.
