The Cape Breton University Capers men's soccer team has wrapped up their Labour Day weekend with a stop in Inverness. The Capers started the weekend with pre-season victories over Holland College (7-0) and St.Fx (1-0) and ended the weekend with their most important stop.
Tha CAPERS stopped in Inverness and put on a free kid's soccer camp. The event drew more than 90 local children and the CAPERS taught skills, played games and learned from each other. To end the day, the CAPERS took on the local soccer team in a friendly exhibition for the many soccer fans on the Westside of Cape Breton Island.
The CAPERS men's and women's soccer teams kick off their seasons next weekend. They play the UNB Varisty Reds on Saturday, 10th and the UPEI Panthers on Sunday, 11th. The women kick-off action at 1pm, follwed by the men at 3.15pm. Both teams are nationally ranked and will be looking to compete for AUS titles.
