Capers women win, men lose in AUS hoops

Alison Keough led the Cape Breton University women's basketball team as it squeaked out a 67-65 win over the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers during Atlantic University Sport action on Friday at the Chi Wan Young Sport Centre in Charlottetown.
The Marion Bridge native netted 23 points and picked up 15 rebounds in the Capers win, which improves the team's record to 5-3.
Teammates Tanira McClurkin added 17 points to the Capers tally, while Colleen Keane added nine points.
For the Panthers, Danielle MacDonald netted 21 points, while Darcy Zinck added 13 points and Amy Gough added 11 points.
The Capers remain in second place in the league standings with 14 points.
On the men's side, the Capers were defeated 98-60 by the Panthers in Charlottetown.
Meshack Lufile led the Capers in the loss with 17 points, while Sydney native Lee MacQuarrie added eight points.
For the Panthers, Jayden Skinner-Nordin netted 18 points, Deontay Smith netted 17 points, while Geoff Doane and Donathan Moss added 13 and 11 points respectively.
With the loss, the Capers' record falls to 3-5 for sixth-place in the men's AUS standings.
