Capers split weekend road games

The Cape Breton University Capers women's basketball team split a pair of weekend games with the Acadia Axewomen and Dalhousie Tigers.
Saturday, the Capers were defeated 67-62 by the Tigers.

Tanira McClurkin paced the Capers with 19 points and three assists, while teammates Alison
Keough and Colleen Keane added 15 and 13 points, respectively.
For Dalhousie, Courtney Thompson netted 25 points, while Tessa Stammberger added 21 points.
Friday in Wolfville, Colleen Keane paced the Cape Breton Capers to a 68-50 win over the Acadia Axewomen
The North York, Ont., native netted 18 points in the victory, while teammates Tanira McClurkin and Alison Keough each added 13 points.
The four-point game put the Capers back in the win column after suffering back-to-back losses to
Saint Mary's Huskies last weekend.
The Capers fell 93-59 to the Huskies last Sunday and 71-55 last Saturday.

"It was a four-point win for us on the road, which is huge and keeps us pushing toward the playoffs, so I'm really proud of how the girls played tonight," said Capers head coach Fabian
McKenzie.
For the Axewomen, Abbey Duinker and Maya Macatumpag each picked 12 points .
"It was a great team effort," said McKenzie. "Defensively, we really stepped up and played hard so I was really pleased with that."
