CAPERS fall to Axewomen 71-64
Sydney, NS – The CAPERS were unable to overcome a slow start in the 1st quarter and dropped a 71-64 game to the visiting Acadia Axewomen on a snowy Sunday afternoon game at the Sullivan Fieldhouse.

Sydney, NS – The CAPERS were unable to overcome a slow start in the 1st quarter and dropped a 71-64 decision to the visiting Acadia Axewomen on a snowy Sunday afternoon at the Sullivan Fieldhouse. Acadia jumped out to a 21-14 lead in the first quarter and was able to match Cape Breton the rest of the way for the 7-point victory. The CAPERS were able to claw back and take the lead in the 3rd quarter but Acadia responded quickly taking advantage of CBU's turnovers to retake the lead heading into the 4th. Cape Breton tried to cut into the lead late in the fourth but were unable to execute on their 3-point attempts. Haley Macdonald scored 30 points and had 8 rebounds for the victors. The Axewomen double and triple teamed AUS leading scorer Hannah Brown (North Sydney, NS) throughout the night but she was still able to get 27 points on the night.
Turning point – Midway through the 3rd quarter the CAPERS held a 58-57 lead until the Axewomen stole the ball in a mad scramble on the floor to regain the lead and change momentum. The Axewomen increased their lead to 8 to head into the final quarter.

- 5th-year CAPER Madison Munro (Truro, NS) had a game-high 3 assists
- CBU's Munro & Mackenzee Ryan (Glace Bay, NS) along with Ellen Hatt of the Axewomen each had a pair of 3-pointers
