Sydney, NS- The undefeated CBU CAPERS survived a scare and came back from a 1st-half deficit to beat the Acadia Axewomen on a cool and breezy Sunday afternoon in Sydney. Emily Nickerson scored a 1st-half goal for Acadia in the 12th minute. Tamara Brown (Whitby, ON) equalized early in the second half in the 49th minute. Ciera DiSipio (Ottawa, ON) scored on a penalty in the 60th minute to put CBU up 2-1. DiSipio scored again in the 78' minute to put the game out of reach. Brown and DiSipio hooked up for one more to make it 4-1. Lysianne Trottier (Barrie, ON) made a pair of saves for the victory.
Turning point – The CAPERS pressured early in the second half to equalize the game. They kept the pressure on throughout the second half earning a penalty when Ciera DiSipio was taken down just inside the box. She slid her shot just past Acadia Spencer Skinner who went the right way and got a hand on it. The CAPERS continued to press the remainder of the game.
