Ally Rowe of the Cape Breton Capers women's soccer team the Atlantic University Sport women's athlete of the week for the week ending Oct. 15, 2023.
A fourth-year arts student from Kitchener, Ont., Rowe set two new conference records this past weekend as the Capers swept their two matchups—topping the Memorial Sea-Hawks 1-0 on Friday and the Mount Allison Mounties 6-0 on Sunday.
With all six of Cape Breton's goals in Sunday's victory, Rowe now holds the AUS record for goals scored in a single game, as well as goals scored in a single season—with 19 so far and two regular season games remaining this season.
Her six-goal performance eclipsed the previous Atlantic conference record of five goals scored in a single game set in 2005 by former UPEI standout Tessa Roche. (Single-game stats in AUS women's soccer have been kept since 2000.)
The AUS single-season goal record was previously held by former Caper Karolyne Blain with 16 in 2014. (Single-season stats in AUS women's soccer have been kept since 1994.)
Alliyah Rowe from the Cape Breton Capers women's soccer team and Brady Gilmour from the UNB REDS men's soccer team have been named the AUS Athletes of the Week for their respective performances for this past week.
