7by7 CBU Athletes of the Week: Ally Rowe and Harvey Hughes

On the strength of another record-setting performance, AlliyahRowe, a fifth-year striker from Kitchener, Ontario, is the 7by7 Restaurant CBU female athlete of the week for the week ending Oct. 13.
With a three-goal performance in a 3-1 road victory over the defending Atlantic University Sport (AUS) champions – the STFX X-Women – at STFX Stadium in Antigonish on Oct. 9, the fifth-year senior reached 75 for her career, shattering the record of 72 held by Ross Webb of the Saint Mary's Huskies (1978-82) for most regular-season tallies by a student-athlete – male or female – in conference history.
The Bachelor of Arts student leads the AUS in goals (19), game-winning goals (5), points (21) and shots (47).
With the victory over the X-Women, the CAPERS (8-0-2) remained unbeaten and moved into first place in the conference standings.
CBU has clinched a first-round bye for the 2024 AUS Women's Soccer Championship, hosted by STFX, from Oct. 24-27.
The CAPERS will return to the pitch on Friday, Oct. 18 versus the host Dalhousie Tigers in a 5 p.m. ADT kick-off.

Harvey Hughes, a first-year wing from Southampton Hampshire, England, is the 7by7 Restaurant CBU male athlete of the week for the week ending Oct. 13.
The first-year wing for the CAPERS contributed a dynamic two-way performance in a 2-1 road victory over the defending Atlantic University Sport (AUS) champions – the STFX X-Men – at STFX Stadium in Antigonish on Oct. 9.
Hughes, who rang a shot off the crossbar, as part of the CBU attack, also helped hold the X-Men – the highest scoring team in the conference, to one goal in the important triumph.
The Bachelor of Arts in Community Studies student, who played 90 minutes in the contest, has seven points – three goals and four assists – so far this season.
CBU (8-0-2), the first-place team in the AUS, remains undefeated in conference play.
The CAPERS will return to the pitch on Friday, Oct. 18 versus the host Dalhousie Tigers in a 7:15 p.m. ADT kick-off.
