Haylie Clarke, a first-year midfielder – who was a defensive standout in a pair of shutout victories, is the 7by7 Restaurant CBU female athlete of the week for the week ending Oct. 20.
The native of Victoria, B.C. played 90 minutes in both matches; a 1-0 win over the Dalhousie Tigers on Oct. 18, and a 2-0 triumph over the Saint Mary's Huskies on Oct. 19.
Clarke was a key contributor to the CAPERS securing top spot in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) regular season standings, with an unbeaten record of 10-0-2.
The Bachelor of Science, Nursing student finished with two assists in her freshman campaign.
CBU has clinched a first-round bye for the 2024 AUS Women's Soccer Championship, hosted by STFX, from Oct. 24-27.

Max Piepgrass a third-year midfielder from Calgary, Alberta, is the 7by7 Restaurant CBU male athlete of the week for the week ending Oct. 20.
The CBU team captain was one of the leaders – on both ends of the field – in a pair of season-ending victories that helped clinch a playoff spot for the CAPERS.
The Bachelor of Arts student played a stellar 90 minutes in a 1-0 shutout of the Dalhousie Tigers on Oct. 18.
In a 2-1 triumph over the Saint Mary's Huskies on Oct. 19, Piepgrass notched both CBU goals.
The former AUS all-star, with eight, finished tied for second in conference goal-scoring. His nine points placed him in a sixth-place tie.
The defending U SPORTS' champion CAPERS will return to action at the 2024 AUS Men's Soccer Championship, hosted by UNB in Fredericton, from Oct. 24-27.
