Lauren Rowe – a second-year striker with the CAPERS women's varsity soccer team, who was a key contributor to the program securing a conference record 13th championship banner over the weekend – is the 7by7 Restaurant CBU female athlete of the week for the week ending Oct. 27.
The native of Conception Bay South, Newfoundland and Labrador, scored the clinching goals in the CAPERS' semi-final and championship match victories at the 2024 Atlantic University Sport (AUS) Women's Soccer Championship, presented by Bell, at STFX Stadium in Antigonish.
Rowe, in CBU's 4-0 semi-final win over the Memorial Sea-Hawks on Oct. 25, opened the scoring and finished with three shots on goal in 66 minutes.
In the CAPERS 2-0 victory over the UNB Reds in the final match, Rowe – once again – tallied the first marker. She also assisted on an insurance marker from Grace Hannaford, while recording five shots on goal. The dynamic forward was an offensive threat throughout her 90 minutes on the pitch.
The Bachelor of Arts in Community Studies student finished the AUS regular season with one goal and three assists, while making a triumphant return from a 2023 knee injury.
With the AUS title finish, CBU punched their ticket to the 2024 U SPORTS Women's Soccer Championship, hosted by the Dalhousie Tigers – from Nov. 7-10, at Wickwire Field in Halifax.

Jason Hartill, a second-year midfielder from Carleton Place, Ontario, is the 7by7 Restaurant CBU male athlete of the week for the week ending Oct. 27.
The two-way standout for the CAPERS, once again, was stellar in helping the defending U SPORTS champions advance to the semi-finals of the 2024 Atlantic University Sport (AUS) Men's Soccer Championship, presented by Bell, in Fredericton over the weekend.
In a 2-0 victory over the Dalhousie Tigers on Oct. 24, Hartill logged 64 minutes in helping the CAPERS collect the shutout.
On Oct. 25, in a season-ending 4-1 loss to the rival STFX X-Men in semi-final action, the 2023 second-team conference all-star was in the middle of the action for 90 minutes.
This season, the Bachelor of Arts in Community Studies student continued to establish his reputation as one of the top midfielders in the conference.
