Capers remain undefeated
January 16, 2013
The Cape Breton University Capers men's basketball team continued as the lone undefeated club in the country with a 99-67 victory over the visiting Memorial Sea-Hawks Monday at the Sullivan Fieldhouse.
The Capers men’s game against the Sea-Hawks followed the same script as their victory on Monday. CBU, the No. 4 ranked team in the country, jumped out to a mammoth 53-20 lead at halftime. That allowed for the club to get some playing time for their bench in the second half in a 99-67 triumph.

“In the first half, we showed some really good signs of things we could do,” said Capers head coach Matt Skinn. “Our flow offensively was better (Tuesday) than it was (Monday).
“We did a good job, especially in that second quarter, of really stepping up defensively and have a very good defensive quarter as well.”
The Capers used a balanced attack in the win, with six players reaching double digits. Cedric Kosongo had the hot hand with a game-high 15 points, followed by Jimmy Dorsey with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Arild Geugjes with 13. Sean McCormick, Shaquille Keith and Stephane Goosens all followed with 11 points apiece.
For Memorial, Alpha Kisusi scored 14, Theo Stanoev netted 13 and Ryan Wood added 12.
It’s a quick turnaround for the CBU clubs. They return to action this weekend at Sullivan Field House against Acadia. Saturday, the women’s teams meet at 6 p.m., followed by the men at 8 p.m. Sunday, the women hit the court at 2 p.m., and the men play at 4 p.m.
