The CIS No. 6 ranked Cape Breton Capers opening the AUS regular season with a 76-58 win over the Memorial Sea-Hawks Saturday night in Sydney.
Meshack Lufile was nearly perfect on the night, hitting nine-of-10 from the field and finishing with 21 points and nine rebounds for the Capers.
Freshmen point guard Tevoun Jackson had 11 points and six steals in his first career start while Kenny Jean-Louis added 11 points off the bench for the Capers.
Jacob Ranton had 21 points and six boards for the Sea-Hawks while Alpha Kisusi added 15 points.
The two sides will hit the hardwood again Sunday when they tip-off in a 2 p.m. start at the Sullivan Fieldhouse.
