(Halifax, N.S.)—The host Saint Mary's Huskies used 25 points from Theon Reefer to defeat the Cape Breton University Capers 101-70 Saturday in AUS men's basketball action from the Homburg Centre. The 6-6 guard from Toronto had 10 rebounds, good for a double-double for SMU.
Saint Mary's cruised out to a 21-13 first quarter lead after 10 minutes and CBU outscored the Huskies 13-12 in the second quarter and trailed Saint Mary's 33-26 at the half. A 29-11 third quarter saw the Huskies lead 73-46 after thirty minutes. The fourth quarter saw SMU outscore the Capers 28-24 in the frame and Saint Mary's won 101-70.
Despite Kenny Jean-Louis (Montreal, Que.) having a double-double with 27 points and 13 rebounds, the Capers drop to 0-11 in conference play. Blake Gallatly (Maffra, Victoria, Australia) added nine points in the loss.
Both teams return to action Saturday January 21st at 8 p.m.
