FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB Varsity Reds scored an 87-77 win over the Cape Breton Capers Friday night, at UNB's Richard J. Currie Center.
Will Legere(Amherst, NS) led the Varsity Reds, recording a double-double. He scored 14 points and had 11 rebounds.
Javon Masters(Kitchener, ON) scored a game-high 24 points for UNB.
Paul Watson(Mississauga, ON) came off the Capers bench to score 19.
Martin Campbell(Upper Marlboro, MD), also off the bench, added 16.
UNB took a 23 point lead into the fourth quarter, then watched as the Capers chipped away.
Cape Breton scored 33 points in the final frame.
The Capers and Varsity Reds tangle again on Saturday.
Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
