CBU CAPERS win the battle against StFX X-Men
The CBU CAPERS defeated the StFX X-Men in AUS men's basketball action at the Sullivan Fieldhouse on Thursday, January 23.
This face-off between the 1st and 2nd place teams in the conference started off with quick paced action at both ends. The CAPERS took the lead 2 minutes into the game and held it until the end of the quarter. The two teams exchanged baskets with the CAPERS keeping the lead with a score of 52-44 at the half.
The third quarter saw the CAPERS pull ahead by 14 by the mid-way point with the quarter finishing at 74-65. The X-Men put up a hard fight in the 4th quarter but fell short with the CAPERS taking the win with a final score of 92-78.
Gatluak James (Windsor, ON) and Koat Thomas (Waterloo, ON) led the way for the X-Men with 19 points each and DJ Jackson (Mississauga, ON) and Gloire Koua (Brazzaville, Congo) added 5 rebounds.
For the CAPERS, Liai Tong (St. John's, NL), the Subway player of the game, netted 20 points and Shak Pryce (Pickering, ON) added 17. Both players, along with Tyson Cato ((St. Catherine's, ON), added 9 rebounds each.
The CAPERS will travel to StFX for a rematch on Saturday, January 25th with tip-off at 8pm.
