Capers tie Huskies on Beans timely marker
Keishen Bean’s league-leading seventh goal of the season late in the game pulled the Cape Breton Capers into a 2-all draw with the Saint Mary’s Huskies in AUS men’s soccer action Sunday afternoon at Huskies Stadium.
The Huskies built a 2-0 lead behind goals by Adam Downie and Elvir Gigolaj. The two-goal advantage held until the 72nd minute when Gregg Whiting tallied to pull CBU within one.
Bean scored with about six minutes remaining in the contest.
The Capers remain atop the Atlantic conference standings, tied with St. Francis Xavier at 4-0-1.
Mounties 3, Axemen 1: At Sackville, N.B., after a scoreless first half, Mount Allison built a 2-0 lead and then held on for a win over Acadia.
Sam Bliss, Stuart McAdam and Adrian Crace each tallied for Mount A.
Zach Shaffelburg scored in the 69th minute for the Axemen.
X-Men 1, Panthers 1: At Charlottetown, St. F.X. kept pace with the Capers by earning a tie with host UPEI.

Justine Caldwell earned the shutout in the SMU goal.
Axewomen 0, Mounties 0: At Sackville, N.B., Acadia fired 13 shots at Robin Bessemer but couldn’t beat the Mount Allison netminder.
Lidia Simoes posted the shutout for the Axewomen.
Panthers 1, X-Women 0: At Charlottetown, conference-best UPEI improved to 5-0 with a shutout victory over St. F.X.
