Capers battle Moncton to 2-2 draw

Playing from behind for much of the afternoon, the Cape Breton University Capers men’s soccer team battled the Universite de Moncton Aigle Bleus to a 2-2 draw Saturday in AUS men’s soccer action in Sydney.
After Maxime Daigle staked the visitors to a 1-0 lead at the 11-minute mark, the home side found themselves battling from behind.
Shayne Hollis with his third goal of the year 23 minutes in pulled the Capers even before Antoine Godin sent Moncton to the dressing room with a 2-1 halftime lead, beating Andrew Murphy in the Capers goal in the 39th minute.
CBU co-captain Jason Massie, with his fourth goal of the season, saved the afternoon for Capers fans, scoring the equalizer in the 78th.
At 2-3-3 on the season, the Capers find themselves in seventh spot in the AUS standings with five games to play.
CBU will be home again Sunday when they take on the league-leading Saint Mary’s Huskies in a 3:15 p.m. start at the Cape Breton Health Recreation Complex on the CBU campus.
