Here come the champs.
Entering the weekend two points our of the sixth and final playoff spot, the defending AUS champion Cape Breton University Capers men's soccer team rolled off a pair of impressive victories to jump into third spot, just three points out of first.
Sunday, the Capers used a balanced offensive attack with five different goal scorers getting in on the action as CBU shutout the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleus 5-0 in Sydney.
Bruno Mota, with a rocket to the top corner from 30 yards out in the seventh minute, Mark Stewart with his fifth of the season in the ninth minute and Sandro Rajkovic in the 44th minute staked the Capers to a 3-0 first half lead.
Jordan Evison in the 49th minute and Ian Greedy in the 73rd minute rounded out the scoring.
It was Greedy's fifth of the season and 30th regular season goal of his career, leaving him one short of Keishen Bean's school record of 31.
Ethan MacInnis made four saves in the Capers goal for the shutout. Samuel Charron made four saves in a losing cause for Moncton.
