Sydney, N.S. - The CAPERS (1-0-1) remained unbeaten for the opening weekend of the AUS soccer regular season. The CAPERS scored one goal in each half to defeat the UPEI Panthers (0-2) on Sunday afternoon at the Cape Breton University field.
CAPERS Cory Bent(Preston,UK) and Daniel Pritchard(Nuneaton,UK) each scored goals in a game where both team shared possession and played conservatively. Cory Bent, for his efforts was awarded the Subway Player of the Game Award. CBU goalkeeper Jamie Wilson (Dunbar, SCO) earned the clean sheet.
The CAPERS outshot the Panthers 11 to 5. UPEI goaltender Brett Strba made 3 saves in a losing cause.
The CAPERS return to action next Saturday, September17th when they visit the Dalhousie Tigers in Halifax with a 1:00pm start. The Panthers host Acadia on Friday, September 16th.
