SYDNEY, NS – On a sunny, perfect day for AUS soccer, the CAPERS showed their goal scoring prowess by beating Moncton 7-1 continuing their winning streak. With the win the CAPERS move to 5-1-1 on the season and Moncton falls to 1-6-1.
2nd-year forward Joel Eckert-Ayensa (Pulhaim, GER) scored three, captain Stuart Heath (Belfast, IE) returned to action with two goals and singles were scored by Peter Schaale (Bernkastel-Keus, GER) and Max Raab (Elora, ON).
Andre Leblanc (Dieppe, NB) faced non-stop pressure and took the loss of the Aigles Bleus. Alexandre Lurette (Campbelton, NB) scored the lone marker for Moncton. Jamie Wilson (Dunbar, SCO) earned the win on a light day of work.
The game was preceded by a moving ceremony to recognize women's coach Ness Timmons who has guided the CAPERS to 8 AUS titles and one National CIS title in 2007 during his 20 years at the helm.
The CAPERS next travel to New Brunswick to play the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton on October 15th and then face the Universite de Moncton again on October 16th. Both games start at 3:15pm.
