Bio

Head Coach, John Hudec is a native of Saskatchewan where he competed in college and university sports as a member of the Saskatchewan Polytechnique Amaruks and then the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. John was a multi-sport athlete competing in college badminton as well as both university track & field and cross country running.

John has broad experience as a coach of a wide spectrum of sports at many levels from community sport into both provincial and national competition and at the college and university level. John had experience with one of Canada’s National Teams as the physiologist for the Canadian National Women’s Volleyball Team at the University of Regina.

John’s track and field interest was renewed in 2012 when he became Faculty Advisor for the Cape Breton University Track and Field Club. Since that time the club has developed into a varsity team competing in the Atlantic University Sports Championships. 

John’s certification and education include certification as an NCCP Level Three Coach. Academically he has received a diploma in Recreation, a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Arts, and Ph.D. in Kinesiology.

John has been an assistant professor at Cape Breton University since 2004 and is the current Chair of the Department of Experiential studies in Community and Sport.
