Capers present cheque to Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation

Members of the Cape Breton University Capers women’s basketball team recently presented the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation with a cheque for $10,273.39, representing funds raised by the teams successful Shoot for the Cure night held February 11th at the Sullivan Fieldhouse.
Shoot for the Cure is an initiative of the CIS Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) to raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - and other related cancer charities – and has been running for five straight seasons.
At CBU, the hard work of CBU Alumni and the Capers women’s program has generated more than $50,000 for the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Cancer Unit.
More than 1,000 fans were on hand as the Capers hosted the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers back in February and as has become the norm over the past five years, the local supporters were more than ready to help with such a great cause.
CBU Alumni and the Capers women’s basketball program would like to thank everyone for their support and for making Shoot for the Cure in Cape Breton one of the top fundraising events in the CIS.
