The Cape Breton Capers dropped a 70-62 decision to the visiting University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds in AUS women's basketball action in Sydney Friday night.
The loss dropped the Capers top 2-5 overall heading into the Christmas break. UNB improved to 5-2 on the year.
Alison Keough had a game high 21 points and nine rebounds for the Capers.
Valentina Primossi with nine points and Rasheeka Gunn and Shantiera Miller added eight points apiece were other top performers for CBU.
Nicole LaFleur had 17 points for UNB, who outscored the Capers 38-28 in the second half.
Laura Kaye added 10 points and six assists while Grace Wade finished with 10 points and five helpers for the winners.
The Capers will be off now until January 6th when they face the StFX X-Women in Antigonish.
