The Cape Breton University Capers cracked the win column Wednesday with a 73-63 victory over the StFX X-Women at the Sullivan Fieldhouse in Sydney.
The Capers, who had lost halftime leads in their first two regular season contests last weekend, looked to be falling in the same trap again, allowing a 10-point halftime lead slip away to the X-Women, entering the final quarter tied 52-52.
This time however, the Capers exploded in the fourth, outscoring the visitors 21-11 enroute to the win.
Alison Keough led the Capers attack, finishing with 27 points and 13 rebounds.
Hannah Brown had 12 points and nine boards off the bench for CBU (1-2) while Natasha Roach chipped in with 10 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Lindsay Lessard had 21 points and seven rebounds for the X-Women while Courtney Kilyk added 17 points in a losing cause.
The Capers will be back in action Saturday when they hit the road for a 6 p.m. contest with the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds.
