Sydney, NS - The CAPERS played their first preseason game of the 2016-17 season at the Sullivan Field House and came away with a 75 - 35 victory over the Nipissing Lakers. It was a fine start to the preseason schedule for the CAPERS who led the entire game and controlled play using an up-tempo agressive style.
The CAPERS were able to get everyone involved and used a balanced attack to beat the LAKERS. The CAPERS were led by 4th-year forwards Allison Keough (Marion Bridge, NS) 16pts , Colleen Keane (Scarborough, ON) 16pts and received strong guard play from Valentina Primossi (Trieste, ITA) 11pts. The CAPERS used non-stop pressure to force 32 turnovers by Nipissing, while only committing 19 of their own.
The CAPERS next play host to the University of Toronto, University of New Brunswick and McGill University at the Sullivan Field House October 14th-16th. The teams are travelling to Sydney for the Debbie Ruiz Memorial Tournament which is named for former CAPER Debbie Ruiz who recenlty passed away of cancer.
