Toronto, ON - The Cape Breton Univeristy CAPERS were victorious on the second day of the Darcel Wright Memorial Tournament in preseason women's basketball action. The tournament is being hosted by Ryerson and pit east coast versus west coast.
The CAPERS rushed out to a 26-10 lead to start the game and never looked back in beating the Thunderbirds on the second day of the tournament. The CAPERS rounded out the game with a strong fourth quarter outscoring the British Columbia school 22-13 in the final period. With the win the CAPERS move to a 1-1 record for the weekend, UBC drops to 0-2.
The CAPERS were led by Allison Keough (Marion Bridge, NS) with 18 points and 9 rebounds. For the second straight game, Colleen Keane (Scarborough, ON) played strong finishing with 11points and 3 rebounds. The CAPERS led the whole game and defended well to limit the Thunderbirds chances.
The CAPERS will await the winner the University of Victoria and Western, tip off is Sunday at 1pm et.
