Sydney, NS – The CAPERS got their first win of the season 59-56 in a low scoring defensive battle on Saturday afternoon at the Sullivan Fieldhouse.
Sydney, NS – The CAPERS got their first win of the season 59-56 in a low scoring defensive battle on Saturday afternoon at the Sullivan Fieldhouse. The CAPERS got off to a hot first quarter outscoring the Reds 17-7. Both teams found it difficult to get any extended scoring going and it was hard to get clean shots off all afternoon. The CAPERS were able to get to the line 33 times compared to UNB's 10. CBU made good use of those free throws, hitting 72.7% of them. The CAPERS held the lead throughout the game and never trailed. The CAPERS were led by their backcourt duo of Monique Calliste (Toronto, ON) with 19 pts & 6 rebounds and MacKenzee Ryan (Glace Bay, NS) who also had 19 pts. Audrey Rankin(Prince George's County, MD) was strong on the boards with 11. The Reds had three players hit double figures. Krystal Osbourne led the way with 14 pts and 6 rebounds. Mikaela Dodig had 13 and Eva Tumwine had 12 in a losing cause.
