(Sydney, NS) – The CAPERS overcame a terrible start to overcome St. FX 72-64 in overtime on Saturday night at the Sullivan Fieldhouse. Hailey MacLeod (Marion Bridge, NS) led the CAPERS in scoring for the second consecutive night with 25 pts. Monique Calliste (Toronto, ON) also had a strong game for CBU with 22 pts and 8 rebounds. Alliyah Fraser led the X-Women attack with 24 pts while Marley Bonnick had 16 points for the losers.
Turning Point – With the CAPERS up by 1 point with 8 seconds left, ST.FX 5-Year player Jamie McCarron succumbed to the pressure and missed 1 of her two foul shots and the game ended regulation in a tie. The CAPERS were dominant in overtime outscoring X 14-6.
Cape Breton moves to 6-9 on the season which is good enough for 5th pace and also clinched a playoff berth with the victory. ST.FX fall to 2-13.
