Capers women tie twice, extend undefeated streak to seven

It was a weekend of ties for Cape Breton University Capers soccer teams.
The Capers battled the St. FX X-Women to a 1-1 draw Sunday after playing to a 1-1 deadlock against the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds Saturday in Atlantic University Sport women’s soccer action.
In men’s AUS play, the Capers and St. FX X-Men battled to a 1-1 tie Sunday, a day after CBU lost 3-0 to the UNB Varsity Reds.
In women’s play Sunday in Antigonish, the Capers tied the rival X-Women 1-1.
Kaelyn Burke was the lone goal scorer for Cape Breton, while Sarah Cannell scored the goal for StFX.
Tiffany O’Donnell made six saves for CBU, while Maris Miller made eight saves for X.
On Saturday, the Capers also tied 1-1 during a home game against the UNB Varsity Reds.
Shanice Maxwell scored for CBU, while Samantha Lagacy picked up a goal for UNB.
Tiffany O’Donnell made three saves during the game, while New Brunswick goalie Jackie Blank had 13 saves.
In men’s action, the Capers tied 1-1 against StFX in Antigonish.
Bruno Mota was the lone goal scorer for CBU, while Ryan Ashlee netted a goal for StFX.
In net, CBU goalie Ethan MacInnis made six saves, while Andrew MacDonald made five.
Saturday, the Capers suffered a 3-0 loss to the Varsity Reds at CBU.
Benjamin Law, Amir Razak and William Allen all scored for UNB.
Ethan MacInnis had eight saves for the Capers, while Brandon Eagle made 14 saves fo UNB in the win.
